Rats are typically dealt with using poisons in approved boxes and containers, sometimes traps are used in conjunction with bait, but rarely ever on their own if a thorough result in the minimum amount of time is wanted.

A variety of poisons in different forms are available as anticoagulant rodenticides.

Disinfection of areas used by rats is needed, particularly if they have been near food storage or preparation areas.

A thorough search of the affected area and methodical method of work are required for best results.
